INDIA 2011 - Thoughts & Pics

India, a country of 1.21 Billion people, projected to be the world's most populace country by 2025, has every major world religion represented and worships an astounding 330 million gods. It is estimated that a startling one billion people worldwide live in slums and the figure will likely grow to 2 billion by 2030. I was also sad to learn that over 64% of India's population now live in the "slums". I would attempt to define what a "slum" is, for you, but as they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". See below...

Looking down on the slums from a train we were riding on.
A typical home in the slums, usually about 10x10 or less and wrapped/roofed with cloth, plastic or sheet metal.

To this City God opened up a door for the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ. We were able to share the hope giving truth that God loved them and had sent his son for their sins! We went through the slums and were invited into people's homes where we would sit and, without fail, multiple family's would ask if they could come in also, all eager to hear. Before we knew it,  the entire "home" was filled with people, leaving only room to sit on the floor...and then, all leaning towards us, they would say through an interpreter, please...tell us about Jesus. Unfortunately breaking a camera out for pictures would have been really distracting to what we were sharing, so there are no pictures of the "slum to slum evangelism" taking place. However, there are pictures of other times where we shared the gospel/bible stories/worship/songs, etc...So here ya go.
I learned a song in their native tongue (Hindi) called "Yeshu-Massee" which taught about Jesus Christ. They LOVED singing it. ; )

This little tike was really getting into it. haha  I was teaching them some motions too, actually i have no idea what i was teaching...haha But she must have liked it!

More singing. Allison, the girl to my left playing the Viola, plays with me on Sunday's at our Church in Richmond as well. She is very gifted and loves Jesus very much. Erin on my Right did an amazing job loving on these kids and sharing the gospel of Jesus. We had an incredible team of 7 go with us from Aletheia Church in Richmond, VA.
MORE TO COME!! Thanks for those of you who prayed for me and this trip. God did some amazing things, so many stories still to tell. I'll update again soon!!
