In this community lament Israel recalls a previous time of God's mercy on His people and asks for a Fresh Show of that mercy today.
"When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream (This past great mercy was so great, they could hardly believe it...like a dream).
Then our mouth was filled with laughter, our tongue with shouts of Joy; they said to all the world, "The Lord has done GREAT things for us and we were glad."
-Their prayer today is this, "Restore us (today, as you have in the past) Oh Lord!"
And here's a great promise to those who cry out to the Lord, "Those who sow in tears SHALL REAP with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, WILL come home w-Shouts of Joy, carrying his sheaves (evidence of God's restoration) with him "
-As Sarai's servant Hagar said of the Lord after He answered her silent prayers, truly "You are the God of seeing".
Be encouraged sojourner, the mistakes you've made, the frustration you experience, the injustice, the pain, uncertainty...GOD SEES. The distance you feel from Him, the sin that has separated you from Him...HE SEES STILL...HE Hears your cry. Call to Him, as our spiritual ancestors did. Ask him to restore you, to show mercy to you...and we also, will return with SHOUTS of Joy, saying, "The LORD has done great things for us and we are glad." This was SO encouraging to me today...I had to share it with you.
